Welcome To... MotorSport at its Best!

V I S I T O R S

Run by former Nissan and Proton works driver Geoff Jones, and with a close relationship to Prodrive, this Machynlleth based rally preparation company is your one stop shop to professional and yet friendly rallying.

From arrive and drive packages to basic between event car preparation Geoff and his band of experienced mechanics have a wealth of experience to choose from.

For 2008 Geoff Jones Motorsport will be running cars in a wide variety of championships.

After a 100% mechanical reliability record in 2007, the likeable Londoner, John Lloyd, will form part of a two car team alongside Andrew Barnes, competing in the BTRDA rally series in a pair of ex-works Ford Focus World Rally Cars.

Dovetailing selected BTRDA rounds with an intensive attack on the Welsh National Championship is Neville Jones, who enters his second full season on board a Subaru Impreza N10.

Geoff Jones Motorsport will also run Paul Griffiths in a Group 4 Mk II Escort in the Historic Championship. On only his second ever event in the car Paul was sitting well inside the top five on last year's Roger Albert Clark until time spent in a ditch dropped him back to ninth at the finish.

GJM will also maintain a strong presence in the premier division of rallying, the British Rally Championship. As well as continuing to run both Rob Swann and Karl Simmons in Subarus, GJM has also been asked to run young gun Andrew Hockeridge in a Citroen C2R2. Whilst Karl Simmons remains in an Impreza N12, Rob Swann will be upgrading to a brand new N14 and with Geoff already having done a large amount of testing of this car as part of his work with Prodrive, he should be a step ahead with knowledge on setup and performance, giving Rob that crucial edge.

Geoff will continue with his driver tuition. Whilst former pupil Conrad Rautenbach makes his mark on the World Rally Championship, Geoff will continue to help develop young talent within the UK, tutoring the likes of former S1600 British champion James Wozencroft amongst others.

Geoff Jones takes a Plains podium on rallying return.

Machynlleth based Geoff Jones belied his lack of recent rallying activity by

taking a podium finish on last weekends Plains Rally and admitted to

having far too much fun on what was his first ever rally in a World Rally Car.

Geoff, a former works driver for Nissan and Proton in the late 1990’s, was reunited with his former co-

driver Rhydian Welson for the Welshpool based Plains Rally, an event which Geoff was contesting in an ex

Colin McRae Ford Focus WRC kindly lent to him by John Lloyd.

This time, however, the lack of recent competition experience and perhaps a little bit too much

flamboyant driving from Jones meant that he would have to settle for third overall after a day of high

speed action in the woods. His task was made difficult when Geoff suffered two spins during the course of

the rally, but the massive grin at the end of the day showed that the overall result wasirrelevant.

When John Lloyd offered me the use of the Focus for my home event I had to try and remain

calm whilst I accepted the offer. This is the first time I have ever driven a world car in

competition and I actually learnt a lot about the car.

The stages were in brilliant condition and a big thanks must go to the organisers and marshals

for putting on a superb event. I would never have been able to do this rally if it hadn’t have

been for the help and support from Carless Fuels, Dunlop Tyres, 710 oil, Quest Mead and

especially Jardine Lloyd Thompson, as well as all my service crew and the fans who cheered us

on out in the stages. This rally was a LOTof fun!

By finishing third overall on the 2008 Plains Rally Geoff continues his run of podium positions that extend

back to the 2005 Plains Rally, an event which he won, again in a car loaned to him by John Lloyd. At

present Geoff has no plans to contest any other rallies in 2008.
